| Hypothetical question here.. If you were to enter a tournament and you were given a choice of an FPS, which one would you choose? I'll post a poll with some common ones and if you think there are some that i've missed feel free to post them. | |

| I've actually never played a FPS before, but this guy I'm seeing LOVES FPS and is disappointed that I'm a gamer that's never played one. Do you recommend one for a beginner? | |

| For a first time FPSer I would mostly suggest either Halo 3 if you have a 360 or play some HalfLife 2 single player till you can get the hang of aiming with a mouse and then upgrade to counter strike. It is a pretty competitive game and I get my tail whipped a lot on random servers :\
Call of Duty 4 is also pretty good considering it has an easy learning curve. The only issue is that it gets very repetitious and people love to be cheap(corner campers and glitchers) but overall it's a great game.
But you could always go with some oldschool ones such as Doom and Wolfenstein.

| I highly suggest CoD2 if you want a good campaign experience. The multiplayer is well done too, however I'm not sure if anyone still plays it. I don't have a preferred FPS, but if I have to choose it would be Battle field Bad Company. (Considering the fact there's explosion going all around you, awesome sound effects, and some lovable levels. ) I wouldn't consider it a balanced FPS though. | |

| Of the ones there I would choose COD 4. I would add Bioshock. | |

| Bioshock doesn't really have the multilayer capacity that the others on the list do though, and not very feasible for a tournament. | |

| It is still a FPS and you could have an achievement race since the achievements are fun and easy to get. | |

it's an action adventure rpg, it has many factors in it, it's not a real fps, just first person... still an awesome game though. an fps is basically you're here, they are over there, you want them dead, here's a gun and some bullets, good luck... not much else to an fps, I still like them though, I'm just stating a point.

| TF2 all the way. I never really liked CS and its hacker riddled servers. I love the class structure of TF2 as well. | |

I have never seen a tournament where they had an achievement race, and i'm not sure that would go over to well either, but I guess it could be possible..i'll have to try it someday. It would be rather difficult to track though considering that you have to account for load times, bugs in the game, and the randomness of weapons...so some players could have an advantage there. Where as in FPSs where weapons are spawned at designated nodes, or bought CS, everyone has a chance to get em and there's no random chance and you can kill them to get the weapons/equipment.

| They do that all the time on "real gaming sites" where a new game comes out people play till someone gets all of the achievements and the winner gets a prize. It could be done with friends or online. | |

| The question that was asked was which FPS you would rather play in a tournament. As in a head-to-head competition, player versus player, etc. | |
