Useful Programs

On my many adventures out onto the interwebs I have stumbled upon many a wonderful program and addon.

I shall start with some web browsers, most are common knowledge but i'll list them anyway

Web Browsers

Mozilla Firefox - Download
Everyone knows about it, and it's great. The one cool thing is you don't need administrative privelages to install it.
It also has many nifty addons that can be installed with it, and if you're good enough it's completely customizable, and free to boot

Flock - Download
Not many people know about this neat little browser, it has a lot of social networking features built in. I haven't used it a lot personally, but I do know it integrates with atleast facebook adding some functionality and easy access. It has addons similar to Firefox as well.

Opera - Download
I don't know much about Opera, but I do have coworkers who highly recommend it so i decided to put it here for good show.

Safari - Download
They finnaly got off their high horse and decided to make it PC compatible I personally do not use it, nor do I like it, but i'm a good sport and put it up here.

Graphic Design

Paint.Net - Download
I use this little program as a replacement for Photoshop..considering i don't have a grand just laying around. It works almost just as well and it's free!

UnFREEz - Download
I haven't really had a chance to use this one yet, but it allows the making of moving images.

Utilities

Orbit Downloader - Download
This is an aaaammmmaazing downloader. It is very similar to FDM but with this you can use the Grab feature to actually pull video/music right from the webpage. Such a useful program, I would highly suggest this over the standard IE/Firefox download features.

AVG - Download
I don't really have to say much regarding this program, i'm sure everyone knows how amazing it is. And to top it all off, it's free. The link goes directly to the AVG free edition download page.

Wireshark - Download
This program works wonders when you want to monitor the traffic over your personal network, it's a free packet sniffer.and a great way to test your mettle when it comes to network security.

Bittorrent - Download
It's great for sharing files with others. i.e. Linux distros, nuff said. And again i do not condone any use of this program in an illegal manner.

I'm going to get Paint.net a try & see if I can whip together a new banner personally made by me! If it turns out like crap I won't even put it up.. but if I end up liking it and feel it blends well with the board, BAM. New banner. lol, =)

I'll still keep the Affiliates button, though. =o

What I really think would be neat which I've seen on other forums is a series of banners that change every 3-5 hours or so or even every new visit... so you would never know what to expect! Aha. Only problem is we need more people other then me and you interested in wanting to do graphics lol

and ohlala.. good ol' UnFreez. Brings back memories of GIFs I used to make way back when..

Let's just hope my internet doesn't screw up the download so that I can get on to that tomorrow or the next day to test things out.

feel free to replace the banner, you know how much i hate it. And i'm working on a new one atm but i'm having a hard time figure out which vg characters to add in. Right now i have Roxas from Kingdom Hearts 2, Masterchief, and Wario.

eww, no kingdom hearts please...

I wouldn't really want Wario in the banner, not so sure what's so bad about KH characters..(despite a lot of boards over-use of them.), and I can't help you on any real suggestions for characters to add, at least. Not at the moment!

Should add GIMP to the list. Its a free graphis program similar to photoshop.

Might want to add UTorrent as well. Utorrent is more straight forward for newbies and flexible settings and managment.
